Ethical Behavior Guides ALL that We Do
We support and adhere to the Ethics Rule of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
These Guidelines address:
Bias
Competency
Conduct
Confidentiality
Credibility
Development
Discrimination
Independence
Management
Objectivity
Record Keeping
Reporting
Standards
We understand the importance of protecting, preserving, and promoting the public trust in how and what we do by independently, impartially, and objectively producing appraisals that are credible, accurate, reliable and reproducible. We report this to our client(s) in a manner that is persuasive, clear, and non-misleading. We observe the highest standards of professional practice. We follow a standard of care in performing an appraisal (knowing what to do and what not to do). Although not clearly defined, a standard of care correlates closely to a test of reasonableness (what would a similar professional / peer do?). In every assignment, we ask ourselves the question, are we following practice guidelines that a professional peer would follow and is it reasonable and supporting of the appraisal.
thanks to Timothy C. Andersen (The Appraiser’s Advocate) and Joshua Wood, JD, MAI for their his insights on this.
